Scenery of the arctic

At 9:35 in the morning I received a call from the team. Their position was 82 degrees 53 minutes North and 70 degrees 50 minutes West. They moved 4km. It was a fine day with a moderate wind from south. The temperature was -27°C.

If the wind condition is right for ski sailing, it is possible to cover 100km a day. And we calculated the amount of food and fuel needed, supposing that there will be some wind for ski sailing. However, if this situation continues, food and fuel will run out before they reach Eureka the next refueling point (the word "Eureka" comes from Greece, meaning "I found it" in Greek which Archimedes was said to shout when he found a way to measure the purity of gold used in a king's crown).

A white world is stretching in every direction

Photographed on a plane between Ward Hunt Island and Eureka
There I saw many small islands and mountains.

A sunrise at Eureka
The sun in this season won't rise high. It moves like rolling along the horizon. The sunrise glow changes itself into the sunset glow.
